Healthy and moisturized Lips

We all want healthy pink lips and thus a proper care need to be taken to achieve that. Our lips need just as much care as the rest of our skin. Lips have no oil or sweat glands, and they’re constantly exposed to irritants like environment pollutants, weather changes and hence external moisture is very important to keep them baby soft.

Lip scrub:

Scrubbing your lips helps you to get rid of the Dead cells, resulting in soft lips.

You can simply apply your lips with Plain, heavy Lip balm or even plain butter before going to bed and scrub of the dead cell with a tooth brush next morning while brushing.

Making a lip-imagesSugar lips scrub, mix in some granulated sugar with Petroleum jelly or your Lip balm, mix it well and apply a layer on your lips. Scrub your lips in a circular motion and wipe off with a damp cloth or cotton. Baby Soft will be all yours!

Rosy lips:

To get rosy pink lips, here is a little trick that you can try

Crush some Rose petals and add a teaspoon of honey to it. If you are having little pigmented lips, add a teaspoon of Milk powder to it. Apply this mixture on your lips for 10-15 minutes and wipe off with wet cotton and apply your Lip balm.

Rose adds a little Pinkish tinge to your lips while honey and milk powder lightens the Lips.

Sun damages lips too:

The sun is known to increase the synthesis of melanin in the body. Therefore, using lip products, like lip balms and lip sticks which contain SPF or other sunscreens are better to ensure pink and healthy lips.

Use good cosmetics:

Excessive and prolonged use of cosmetics, especially the lipcolors / lipsticks which aren’t of good quality (containing heavy metals), can cause darkening of lips. Cosmetics that have natural extracts (like jojoba, Shea butter, pomegranate seed oil) in their composition should be chosen compared to the pro-chemical ones. Remove lip gloss, lipstick preferably with natural oils like coconut or almond oil. Check for expiry date before applying on the lips as using an expired product can cause severe allergy.

Genetic trait:

Some people are born with dark lips because of genetic factors. In such cases it is very difficult to lighten the colour of the lips naturally.

Other Natural Remedies:

Use of certain natural products, like lime juice, almond oil, glycerine, honey, rose petal extracts, cucumber juice, aloe Vera , are said to be helpful in moisturizing and nourishing the lips to  give them the healthy and pink look.

Coat Your Lips With Lip Balm Before Applying Lipstick:

This  ensures  that your lips are moisturized even with the Lipstick on. Avoid Matte lipsticks as they woul make the lips little dry. Instead go for Crème finish or Satin finish, and always make sure you moisturize your lips with chapstick before applying lipsticks and glosses.

these natural remedies, makes it very easy to achieve soft and healthy lips. Hope you liked this article. Let me know in comments below that how you take care of your lips.

KEEPING YOUR SKIN MOISTURIZED DURING WINTER

images-9

As winter is upon us, it’s time for hot cocoa beside fire and rosy cheeks. For most people, winter bring them more than just a rosy glow to the cheeks, that is uncomfortable dryness to the skin. The problem is worse for some people than just a general tight, dry feeling: As the gets skin so dry it results in flaking, cracking. I myself experience this problem every winter.

Here are some tips to help you get healthy skin during this cold weather:
• Seek help from dermatologist as they can analyze your skin type, troubleshoot your current skin care problems, and give you advice on the skin care products you should be using for your routine.
• Don’t worry about sticking to high end branded products, inexpensive ones work just as good. Its more important that its suitable for your skin and how your skin responds to the product- how you like its feel and not how much you paid for it.
• As weather conditions change, so should your skin care routine. Find moisturizer that’s oil-based, rather than water-based, because the oil will help create a protective layer on the skin that retains more moisture than a cream or lotion.
• Use oils to moisturize your body after bath. As not all oils are appropriate for the face, choose your oils with care. Better, look for “non- clogging” oils like mineral oil, primrose oil, avocado oil or almond oil.
• Sunscreen is not just to be used for summertime. Sunscreen is as essential in winter as in summers because winter sun – combined with snow/fog glare – can still damage your skin. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen to your face and your hands (if they’re exposed) about 30 minutes before going outside.
• Did you know? skin on your hands is thinner than on most parts of the body and has less oil glands that makes it difficult to keep hand moist during cold and dry weather leading to cracking and itchiness. Wear gloves when you go outside; if you wearing wool to keep your hands warm, it’s better to slip on a thin cotton glove first, to avoid any irritation the wool might cause.
• During the winter, your feet need more care as well. Best to use lotions that contain petroleum jelly or glycerine. And use exfoliants to get rid off the dead skin periodically; that would help any moisturizers you use to sink in faster and deeper.
• For facial skin which is uncomfortably dry, don’t use harsh peels, masks, and alcohol-based toners or astringents, as they all can strip vital oil from your skin. Instead, find a cleansing milk or mild foaming cleanser, a toner with no alcohol, and masks that are deeply hydrating. And use them a little less often. Do not use clay based mask as they tends to draw moisture out of the skin.
• Soaking in a burning-hot bath feels great after roaming out in the cold. But the intense heat of a hot shower will actually breaks down the lipid barriers in the skin, leading to a loss of moisture. It’s better to use just warm water and don’t stay in water for long time.

I hope that these were helpful to you, and don’t hesitate leaving your comments below.
If these tips don’t work, go see a dermatologist. You might need a prescription lotion to go for your dry skin, or you may be having a condition that is simply not dry skin and requires different treatment.

Illuminators

It’s a new trend in cosmetics, this product helps emphasis your facial features. It’s like spotlight for best facial features. Illuminator are designed to refract the light, to give the skin the glowing look. So when its applied to your skin it will diffuse and soften problem spots and highlight areas that light falls on. This can help you diffuse your dark circles and also make your cheekbones pop.

Remember, that this is not a substitute for your foundation or concealer. Definitely don’t apply an illuminator to your whole face as you might just look like a light bulb! It is really a complimentary product, like a blush or contouring cream.

Illuminators come in liquid, cream and powder formulation. For Dry skin, Use liquid and cream versions. For oily skin, settle for powder versions.

If you acquire high shine due to really oily skin, try applying a mattifier or setting spray beforehand and then dusting the illuminator on top. This would help reduce the shine, especially at the area of concern. They also come in a wide range of colours from pearlescent colours for fairer skins to warm golden colours for olive and dark skin tones.

It is better to avoid too much sparkle or shine as it accentuates wrinkles and imperfections. Illuminators only have a hint of a pearlized pigment, which makes them a key product for makeup.

illuminators actually, can be applied with or without make up, or even the bare minimum make up. They help create a wonderful glow.

Application:

powder illuminator:  It is applied by using a soft blush brush. Swirl the brush to pick up the illuminator, shake off the excess and apply in a circular motion till you get perfect shine you want.

cream or liquid illuminators: To apply it, take a small amount and dab along the area you want to emphasise. Use your fingers, sponge or beauty blender to blend accordingly.

Apply illuminator to the top of the cheekbone, the centre of your nose and middle of your forehead and chin.

To make your lips appear bigger apply a small amount to your cupids bow. Or for your eyes to look bigger try placing a small amount in the corner of your eye and on the brow bone. This is especially helpful when you are going with nude lips or minimal eyes.

Bronzer

Whether in hot summer or in a dead winter, or any time when we want a healthy glow on our cheeks, bronzers are perfect to the use. But the impact of bronzer being good or not on you depends upon choosing the right bronzer according to particular skin tone and also on application of the bronzer.

choosing Bronzer:

While choosing a bronzer, it’s important to get color right so you get a natural glow. Choose a shade darker than your skin tone but never use a shade that’s more than two shades deeper than skin tone or it will look artificial.

Powders are the easiest to apply and provide the most natural finish. Shimmer bronzers promise to give you glowing skin, but too much sparkle can make your complexion look greasy.

A little bit of shimmer can add a healthy glow and highlight your facial structure, but too much can emphasize uneven skin texture. To avoid this, choose a product with fine shimmer particles and apply sparingly.

A shimmer bronzer is a great choice for illuminating the skin and giving a sun-kissed glow, but not ideal for contour and shadow.

Not always a bronzer:

fair skin tones:  Swap your bronzer for a warm nude blush—something with a hint of peach or rose works best. Those warmer undertones give the skin a gorgeous kissed-by-the-sun flush that never looks muddy or artificial.

medium and dark tones:  A brick-toned blush over the T-zone and cheekbones. The red undertone of the blush gives the natural look that appears just after nice beach day.

And remember, less is more; too much blush can make you look sunburned. Use a large powder brush or fan brush to apply the perfect amount of product.

Use of right brush:

Use the largest, softest brush you have. Avoid a brush that is too dense, dense brush would make color come out stronger, that can look dirty instead of just bronzed look.

For perfect look:

Every person’s face shape is unique and bronzer should be used to shadow in any area that we would like to minimize, while warming up the skin at the same time to match the chest.

use bronzer on neck and under the chin. This gives the appearance as you had a neck lift! It also matches all the color from cheek, neck, and face so don’t get white face photos.

It can also be used on the chin, or along the hairline around the forehead through temples to minimize. Women with smaller foreheads should not use bronzer in that area.

Application:

Apply bronzer in a “3” shape.

Sweep across the forehead, around to the cheekbone and then down the jaw. Don’t forget the nose and ears!

Also, if neck is exposed, be sure to apply bronzer there as well for a natural all over glow

lightly dust bronzer where the sun would hit your skin, Instead of caking on the color. Apply on all these areas carefully: the bridge of your nose, across your hairline and the apples of your cheeks.

Apply a highlighter across your cheekbones and your brow bone that would help avoid muddy skin tone, and also will give face more dimension.

Make up Base

Make up Base

Beginners in make-up have lot of confusion, especially regarding foundation, primer and concealer. In fact, the most common question asked is, the difference between these 3 products.  Although these 3 products sound quite similar yet each one of them satiate a different need.

Introduction-

Before starting off with the difference, let me give the brief introduction about make-up base. It is an art of preparing and perfecting your skin for makeup. It provides an even clean surface, which is free of blemishes, imperfections and wrinkles. It also helps to absorb oil, and controls shine throughout the day, which increases makeup longevity. Primer, Foundation and Concealer are all part of makeup base in their respective order. But experts do not recommend using all these products, because too much makeup can possibly clog the pores. Depending upon your skin condition you may skip some or all of them.

Primer:

Primer is the first makeup step after applying moisture. It acts as a basic of makeup base that enhances longevity by providing better grip of makeup to skin.

There are tinted primers and no-color primers, people can choose either one. Anyhow, if you are applying a foundation on top, then primer shade does not make any difference. In case, you are planning to wear it alone then Its better going for a tinted primer to cover up the imperfections.

You can find separate primers just for eye-shadow makeup, in market. But you can use the same primer for my face and eye-shadow makeup, and it works quite well for many women. For eyes, primer is used to provide long-lasting crease-free look. It also helps brings out the best pigmentation of less pigmented shades.

Foundation:

After primer, foundation is the second makeup step. Foundation is a skin coloured cosmetic. Its main job is to create an even skin tone, to hide flaws and to change the natural skin colour.

Depending upon skin type and complexion you can go for the most suitable foundation. Like, water based or powdery foundations are good for oily skin, cream or oil based foundations are good for dry skin. People with normal skin can go for any foundation.

Also, if your skin is a lot uneven and blemished then you should go for a foundation that provides medium to full coverage. In case your skin is even (or partially even) and devoid of imperfections then you can give go for ‘low to medium’ coverage foundation as well.

Foundation shade should not go beyond 1-2 degrees in contrast (lighter or darker – the way you like primer shade does not make any difference

Concealer:

Ideally, concealer comes in as third makeup base step. But if you are skipping any of the above steps or even both steps then its position shifts up in that chronological order.

There is no point of applying concealer if you’re just going to blend it all away by putting foundation or primer on top. So remember, concealer is the last step of makeup base.

Concealer’s main function is to hide stubborn/deep scars that require last minute touch ups. Unlike foundation, concealer is not applied on entire face but just on the areas that require touch ups. Usually, dab it on under eye area, acne scars and chic
