The body shop shea body butter makes my drab winter much more bright and happy with its nutty smell and buttery texture. In terms of quality and moisturizing power the body shop’s body butters are my favourites. And among them shea body butter is my first choice.

It’s rich and creamy texture is a treat for your skin. It melts straight away onto your skin leaving your skin soft and smooth. It absorbs quickly into your skin giving it 24 hour hydration.

Body butter comes in round tub with a screw on cap. You can use a spatula if you don’t wish to use your fingers to get product out of tub – I think its more hygienic that way .You can also get it in a travel size for travelling purposes.

The shea body butter has a very smooth and buttery texture. It does not feel greasy or oily at all- whichbody-butterhss is my main concern with moisturizers.it has a delicious nutty scent and is suitable for all skin types but specially works amazing for dry skin. It has a very light fragnance once applied to your skin which last for few hours (love it).

It adequately moisturizes my dry skin, does not feel heavy or greasy at all and its perfect for dry skin like mine. My skin stays hydrated whole day and I do not need re application. It’s good enough to be used every day,  be it winters or summers.

The Body shop body butters do cost quite a bit , but I think it is so worth the investment as you get good quantity which will last you at least the whole season. The body shop do offer good discounts on their products time to time so do look for them.

Nail Care

Nail Care is important in order to get stong and beautiful fingernails.We all like fine looking fingernails, when we don’t take care of our nails they become brittle and just plain unattractive. Here are some tips which will help you get healthy nails

Nail Care

– You should keep your nails moisturized. Apply a bit of Vaseline or moisturizer with Vitamin E on  cuticles before you go to bed (so that it wouldn’t rub off during your daily activities). It will help keep your cuticles from looking dry and rough.

– Don’t file your nails right after soaking or after shower. They’re more likely to break as they are weaker then. Its better to file in one direction instead of back and forth as it can weaken your nails, too. Make sure to clean under your nails daily,it helps prevent infections.

– If your nails become discolored, make an appointment with a dermatologist as it can be result of fungal infection. Dermatologist can treat it with ointments, supplements, or creams.

-Iron deficiencies might be the cause of brittle nails in some cases. If your nails remain brittle after using lotion, ask your doctor about iron supplements. As doctor can prescribe the appropriate dose of an iron supplement.

-Follow a good diet for to avoid having Fragile nails that can be caused by iron deficiencies. Food abundant in iron include soy products, beans, lentils, whole grain products, green spinach, fresh vegetables, asparagus, parsley, and also dry fruits like raisins, dates and apricots, etc. Including these in your diet will help keep your nails healthy!

– Choose products like nail hardeners or nail polish removers,wisely.  Go for acetone-free products. Don’t switch nail polish too often, as overuse of nail polish remover can weaken your nails.

-The color and texture of your nails can indicate underlying health problems. Always keep an eye on your nail color. If you notice any unusual changes in nail color, better go see a doctor or dermatologist for evaluation.

 

 

 

Healthy and moisturized Lips

We all want healthy pink lips and thus a proper care need to be taken to achieve that. Our lips need just as much care as the rest of our skin. Lips have no oil or sweat glands, and they’re constantly exposed to irritants like environment pollutants, weather changes and hence external moisture is very important to keep them baby soft.

Lip scrub:

Scrubbing your lips helps you to get rid of the Dead cells, resulting in soft lips.

You can simply apply your lips with Plain, heavy Lip balm or even plain butter before going to bed and scrub of the dead cell with a tooth brush next morning while brushing.

Making a lip-imagesSugar lips scrub, mix in some granulated sugar with Petroleum jelly or your Lip balm, mix it well and apply a layer on your lips. Scrub your lips in a circular motion and wipe off with a damp cloth or cotton. Baby Soft will be all yours!

 

 

Rosy lips:

To get rosy pink lips, here is a little trick that you can try

Crush some Rose petals and add a teaspoon of honey to it. If you are having little pigmented lips, add a teaspoon of Milk powder to it. Apply this mixture on your lips for 10-15 minutes and wipe off with wet cotton and apply your Lip balm.

Rose adds a little Pinkish tinge to your lips while honey and milk powder lightens the Lips.

Sun damages lips too:

The sun is known to increase the synthesis of melanin in the body. Therefore, using lip products, like lip balms and lip sticks which contain SPF or other sunscreens are better to ensure pink and healthy lips.

Use good cosmetics:

Excessive and prolonged use of cosmetics, especially the lipcolors / lipsticks which aren’t of good quality (containing heavy metals), can cause darkening of lips. Cosmetics that have natural extracts (like jojoba, Shea butter, pomegranate seed oil) in their composition should be chosen compared to the pro-chemical ones. Remove lip gloss, lipstick preferably with natural oils like coconut or almond oil. Check for expiry date before applying on the lips as using an expired product can cause severe allergy.

Genetic trait:

Some people are born with dark lips because of genetic factors. In such cases it is very difficult to lighten the colour of the lips naturally.

Other Natural Remedies:

Use of certain natural products, like lime juice, almond oil, glycerine, honey, rose petal extracts, cucumber juice, aloe Vera , are said to be helpful in moisturizing and nourishing the lips to  give them the healthy and pink look.

Coat Your Lips With Lip Balm Before Applying Lipstick:

This  ensures  that your lips are moisturized even with the Lipstick on. Avoid Matte lipsticks as they woul make the lips little dry. Instead go for Crème finish or Satin finish, and always make sure you moisturize your lips with chapstick before applying lipsticks and glosses.
