– You should keep your nails moisturized. Apply a bit of Vaseline or moisturizer with Vitamin E on cuticles before you go to bed (so that it wouldn’t rub off during your daily activities). It will help keep your cuticles from looking dry and rough.
– Don’t file your nails right after soaking or after shower. They’re more likely to break as they are weaker then. Its better to file in one direction instead of back and forth as it can weaken your nails, too. Make sure to clean under your nails daily,it helps prevent infections.
– If your nails become discolored, make an appointment with a dermatologist as it can be result of fungal infection. Dermatologist can treat it with ointments, supplements, or creams.
-Iron deficiencies might be the cause of brittle nails in some cases. If your nails remain brittle after using lotion, ask your doctor about iron supplements. As doctor can prescribe the appropriate dose of an iron supplement.
-Follow a good diet for to avoid having Fragile nails that can be caused by iron deficiencies. Food abundant in iron include soy products, beans, lentils, whole grain products, green spinach, fresh vegetables, asparagus, parsley, and also dry fruits like raisins, dates and apricots, etc. Including these in your diet will help keep your nails healthy!
– Choose products like nail hardeners or nail polish removers,wisely. Go for acetone-free products. Don’t switch nail polish too often, as overuse of nail polish remover can weaken your nails.
-The color and texture of your nails can indicate underlying health problems. Always keep an eye on your nail color. If you notice any unusual changes in nail color, better go see a doctor or dermatologist for evaluation.
